I am very happy to announce WeatherWatchers.ca. What started as a simply utility to notify people of weather watches and warnings is expanding to offer more. You can still be advised of severe weather via watches and warnings as issued by Environment Canada, but now there's even more.
The alert system has been greatly improved to make it more reliable. I'll be adding more features as time goes on. If you have suggestions for more features, I'd love to hear them.
In addition to being able to subscribe to Watches and Warnings issued by Environment Canada, as well as view the details of the alert, you can now subscribe to Weather Bulletins.
These are issued by Environment Canada and are of a more generic nature than the watches and warnings. They'll contain information about weather that may not warrant issuing a watch or warning, but can still affect your day. You'll see the option to subscribe to areas throughout the country on the User Menu while logged in.
There's a new feature you'll see in your alerts now. Instead of the "Thanks for using weatherwatchers.ca", you'll normally see an unfamiliar link. This link will direct you to the full details of the watch or warning as issued by Environment Canada. Your alerts will still contain the basic information letting you know that watch or warning is in place, but now, by clicking this link in your email or on your smartphone, you'll be taken to a page on WeatherWatchers.ca with the full details.
